Academic fit
How closely the applicant’s profile matches the requirements and the academic level of the programme.
A strong application begins with understanding the applicant.
US colleges and universities may consider more than academic results. Experience, achievements, extracurricular activities, essays, letters of recommendation and other parts of the profile can all count.
We assess the applicant’s profile, build the strategy behind the college list and shape the application into one coherent story.
The types of institution and typical examples. Click a name to open the university card.
The most selective institutions in the country, with large endowments and well-developed financial aid.
Large state campuses with strong research schools and a wide choice of majors.
Small undergraduate colleges: small classes, close contact with faculty and a broad base of study before you declare a major.
Design, art, film-making and music. The application rests on a portfolio or an audition.
The names open cards and link to the universities’ own websites. They map the academic landscape rather than form a ready-made list: the conditions of a specific programme are checked for the current year of entry.
Academic results remain an important part of admission, but a single figure rarely tells you everything about an applicant. We look at the whole profile and identify which parts of it can genuinely strengthen the application.
US universities do not admit a set of documents.
They admit an applicant.
Not to invent an ideal applicant.
To present the real one accurately.
How closely the applicant’s profile matches the requirements and the academic level of the programme.
The content of the programme, the curriculum and the opportunities available at that university.
How selective admission is, relative to the applicant’s profile.
The cost, and the funding that may be available.
How the programme fits the applicant’s academic goals and their later professional ones.
We build the college list so that every option has a clear place in the overall admissions strategy.
Highly selective options that match the applicant’s academic ambitions.
Programmes whose requirements align closely with the applicant’s profile.
Options that help make the strategy less dependent on the most competitive outcomes.
No category means guaranteed admission.
Many US universities use the Common Application, but a shared platform does not mean a shared admission process.
One interface does not make admission the same everywhere.
Essays show what a transcript, a list of achievements or a set of test scores cannot. A strong essay helps the admissions committee understand the applicant’s experience, motivation, personal qualities and how they think.
Not to write more elegantly.
To write more precisely.
We help identify a strong topic, and build the structure and logic of the essay.
We work on the college-specific questions set by individual universities.
We make the essay clearer and more convincing while keeping the applicant’s own voice.
Extracurricular experience can include projects, research, competitions, volunteering, sports, creative work, employment, internships, family responsibilities and other commitments that matter.
A strong profile is not a count of activities.
It is what the applicant actually did.
Testing policy differs between universities and can change. For every university on the list we check the current policy on its own admissions pages.
First we establish the policy of the university in question.
We assess the applicant’s score against the requirements of the chosen programmes.
We set the strategy from there, following each university’s own rules.
English language requirements differ between universities. Different tests and different forms of proof are accepted, depending on the institution. We check the requirements of every chosen programme in advance. Where an applicant needs IELTS, we arrange preparation through our partner language schools.
IELTS preparationApplication plans and their restrictions differ. Not every university offers all of the plans below, and the exact deadlines are always checked on the university’s own admissions pages.
An early application plan where a university offers one. Its conditions are checked with that university.
An early application option where it exists. Deadlines and rules are set by each university.
A separate early plan, carrying restrictions set by the university.
The main application plan, following each university’s own deadlines.
Where a university uses this model, decisions may be issued as applications are reviewed.
The admission calendar is built separately for each college list.
For applicants coming straight from high school, the academic profile, the application materials and the requirements of each individual college or university matter most.
Undergraduate studyRequirements vary substantially between universities, between their schools and departments, and between individual programmes.
Graduate studyAn MBA works differently: applications run in rounds, professional experience counts alongside the academic profile, and interviews are held by invitation from the school.
More about the MBAThe requirements of a specific programme are always checked on its own official page: within one university, undergraduate, graduate and business school requirements may not match on a single point.
Tuition and fees, and the financial aid available, vary widely between US colleges and universities. For an international applicant the cost has to be weighed while the college list is still being built.
Tuition and fees, and the other costs of a particular university.
Some universities offer scholarships for academic or other achievement.
Some universities offer institutional need-based aid to international applicants. The terms are checked separately.
Some universities use the CSS Profile to award institutional financial aid. We check the requirement separately for every college on the list.
College BoardFAFSA is not a general route to aid for an international applicant. Eligibility for federal aid depends on citizenship or qualifying immigration status.
Federal Student AidThe profile already exists.
Our job is to present it as precisely as possible.
Once an application is submitted, universities may use their own applicant portals and ask for further steps or documents. We make sure the applicant understands what happens next and what they need to do.
Each university may have its own essays, deadlines, applicant portals and requirements.
What we prepare → where we apply → when we apply → what happens next. The facts on this page were verified on 19 August 2026. Requirements for a specific university are always checked separately.
